Mandatory additional training to practice as Family Mediator

32 hours Separating Couples training is mandatory for those Mediators who may have completed a mediation programme via Mediation NI, The Law Society, or other approved training provider in GB or Ireland and wish to practice separating couples family mediation and work towards accreditation.

Modules

Modules are delivered in the areas of Couple Dynamics, Domestic abuse and screening, Family Law Matters, Family Mediation Process, Parenting and Child protection issues.

Code of Ethics and Practice training is mandatory for all those intending to practice family mediation as is membership of College of Mediators UK or Mediators Institute Ireland.

The training is interactive and includes role play, the principles of Mediation such as confidentiality and impartiality, case management with examples from mediation experiences, importance of practice supervision and regular attendance at CPD.

Cost of training

The cost of the training is £500, this includes training, the manual, assessment, certification, co-working opportunities to gain minimum of 12 hours supervised practice to gain readiness to practice certificate.

Throughout the year FMNI recruits additional sessional Mediator Panel members.
